Shakeology Ingredients – Sacha Inchi
Sancha Inchi (or plukenetia volubilis), is one of the Shakeology ingredients that many people may never have heard of before.
What is Sancha Inchi?
Sancha Inchi is a perennial plant with hairy leaves that is native to the Amazon Rainforest. It has been cultivated by indigenous people for many centuries and grows in warm climates.
The seeds have both high protein (27%) and oil (35 – 60%) content, and Sancha Inchi oil is one of the largest plant sources of the Omega family of fatty acids (an important substance for human life). Sancha Inchi contains protein (27%), Omega 3 (48%), Omega 6 (36%), and Omega 9 (9%). It is also extremely rich in vitamin A, vitamin E, and iodine.
Sanchi Inchi Health Benefits
Sacha Inchi oil production is increasing in the Peruvian Amazon and is quickly gaining international recognition for its health properties and taste. In June 2007, Sacha Inchi oil won the Médaille d’or (Gold Medal) at the AVPA Specialty Foods Commodities competition.
Sacha Inchi has been called one of nature’s most impressive super food due to its high content of essential fatty acids. The oil has a nutty finish and mild flavor.
Due to the overwhelming amount of new research emphasizing the health benefits of Omega fatty acids, interest in sustainable sources of Omega is increasing. Sacha Inchi oil is a staple in vegetarian diets because it is an excellent plant source for Omega-3 fatty acids.
